
Kogi Finance Commissioner hails Prof Joash Ampitan (SAN) Appointment as INEC

The Kogi State Honourable commissioner of Finance, Budget and economic planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris,FCA has expressed heartfelt congratulations to Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN on his appointment as the chairman of the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says his choice is a deserving fit and a step in the right direction towards deepening Nigerias democratic process.
In his message of congratulations released through his media assistant, Asiwaju said the decision of the National council of state to unanimously approve Prof. Amupitan’s nomination by Mr President is a clear testament of his omoluwabi character, sterling records of service and his shining legal and scholarship achievements which has made him a grounded feat into the critical position.
He said further that the appointment of the legal luminary and academic giant came at a time when Nigerians were seriously yearning for an electoral body and system that is credible, transparent, efficient, reformative and result driven. According to him the new INEC boss possesses the integrity, intellect and institutional knowledge required to transform our electoral system to meet global standards and strengthen the nations electoral jurisprudence.
In his words “ Prof Amupitan is a proud son of Kogi state, Ayetoro gbede in Ijumu Local Government to be precise, whose academic works, legal exploits and remarkable leadership style has not only made him an invaluable asset towards building a better electoral system, his alluring strides has launched the state and the North-central zone on the National map.”

The Honourable commissioner extended heart of appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the appointment, which he describes as a round peg in a round hole. He expressed optimism that under Amupitan’s leadership, Nigerias electoral system would continue to evolve in line with global best practices.
Asiwaju prayed for divine wisdom, sound health and uncommon vision for the new INEC boss to succeed in his National Assignment, expectedly the Nigerian electoral system would witness a quantum improvement in the annals of our democratic journey.
