The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Hon Wemi Jones, FCIB, yesterday flagged-off year 2020 Marking Exercise of Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE).
The Commissioner did the flag off at the Lokoja Area Evaluators of Education’s office, with a call on the markers not to compromise on standard.
Hon. Wemi Jones said despite the delay, the MOEST is interested in the credibility of the Marking Exercise. And will not tolerate any unprofessional display in the exercise.
He enjoined all the Markers to adhere strictly to the rules of the game.
He said ” Having foreknowledge of the fact that you are dealing with the destiny of Expected Future Leaders hence no Learner should by anyway be disfranchised.”

A SPEECH PRESENTED BY THE HONORABLE COMMISSIONER FOR MINISTRY OF EDUCATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (MOEST). ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE 2020 MARKING EXERCISE OF BASIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (BECE).

PROTOCOL:
BECE Examination, as you all know is the basic requirement for student’s transition from Junior Secondary School 3 (§SS111) into Senior
Secondary School 1. (SSS1).
2020 BECE Examination was grossly affected by the covid-19 pandemic, which led to the delay in all the processes including the Marking
Exercise.
Despite the delay, the MOEST is interested in the credibility of the Marking Exercise. And will not tolerate any unprofessional display in the exercise.
We enjoined all the Markers to adhere strictly to the rules of the game. Having foreknowledge of the fact that you are dealing with the destiny of Expected Future Leaders hence no Learner should by anyway be disfranchised.
