Deputy Speaker of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed at the third quarter general meeting of the Conference of Speakers called on State Governor’s to adopt Governor Yahaya Bello’s security measures and templates which has curb menace of insecurity in Kogi State.
The Deputy Speaker who represented the Speaker of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Prince Mathew Kolawole said that, the strategy of involving all indigenes in the fight against insecurity, encouraging and allocating enough funding for community policing, keeping youths busy with worthy jobs is one major template adopted by the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello and has scored excellent in this sector.
He said Kogi state is bordered by 10 states, and there has been relative peace and calmness. In his words; “Kogi is the safest state in the north, if not the safest in Nigeria. Our Governor has tackled security using internal mechanisms and engage everybody. Security issues should be handled locally. The community leaders, religious leaders, all stakeholders and parents have a major role to play. I task all Rt. Hon. Speakers to go back and make proper laws that will give powers and proper funding to the local security organizations in partnership with the Nigerian Police to bring peace in their respective states.”
The Third quarter general meeting of the conference of Speakers was held at Katsina State, the theme: The menace of insecurity in the country and the role of state assemblies to restore peace and order.
