Kogi Council Of Ulama’u Ends Ramadan Sermon, Urges Wealthy Nigerians To Share With Less Privileged
As Muslims around the world approach end of the Ramadan fast, winding down the intense worship characterising the period, the Kogi State branch of the Council of Ulama’u this evening (Saturday) has ended it’s Ramadan lecture series with a strong advice to waelhty Nigerians to share with less privileged.
In his welcome address, Chairman of Kogi State Council of Ulama’u, Shaikh Salman Adam Omachi, thanked all the lectures for making this year Ramadan lecture memorable, praying Allah to reward them abundantly.
He also thanked all those that contributed towards making this year’s Tafsir successful.
Shaikh Omachi admonished the Muslim Ummah in the country to sustain the virtues learnt during the Ramadan fast even after the passage of the Holy month.
The Chairman, who was represented by Alhaji Idris Baba’Ango said; “we must maintain our God-fearing acts which we exhibited during the fasting period.
“Muslims should strive to maintain all their good deeds during the fasting period and shun all the evil and devilish acts they have abstain themselves during the Holy month of Ramadan,” the chairman stressed.
In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Umar Yusuf Aliyu, appealed to well-to-do Muslims in the country to assist the less privileged with food items and other basic needs.
The Speaker, who was represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Danladi Yahaya Farouq also urged Muslims in the country to use the remaining few days of fasting period to pray fervently for national peace and progress.
He further enjoined Muslims to tolerate one another and pray for sustained unity of the country.
He noted that the two major religions in the country preach peace, unity and love for one another, saying “we should always strive to maintain these at all times.”
Aliyu said that without peace and unity, “socio-economic development will continue to elude any society”.
Highlights of the event was lecture on ‘Solving Problems of Food Security’ delivered by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Professor Professor Mohammed Suleiman Audu.
