The Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barr Muhammed Osuku Tanko has commended Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State for improved welfare, promotion and recruitment of more civil servants in the Ministries, departments and agencies of Government in the last several and half years. He made the commendation during his presentation while welcoming the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi who was around on an official working visit to the Commission.
Barrister Tank says records and activities under his leadership as Chairman of Commission shows that no administration have recruited civil servants more than the Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, just as he argued that the Governor have taken welfare of civil servants as topmost on the priority of government, he said the state is up to date in promotion as the Commission just completed the 2022 promotion examination and interview for civil servants as a way of boosting their morale for better service delivery, just as he announced that all promotion exercise done so far have been given cash backing to reflect the current level of each civil servant.
The Chairman of the Commission said all these economically demanding constitutional duties are carried out as expected by law despite the frustrating financial reality in the states of the country, he therefore said only a civil servants friendly Governor will embark on such exercise all in a bid to make the civil servants happy and ready to work. Barrister Tanko said that his office have been functioning in promotion, employment and appointment of even permanent Secretaries without the interference of the Governor or any government officials but allowing merit, equity, fairness and capability to determine every single promotion or appointment.
The Chairman said that under Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, one hundred and fifty lawyers have been recruited into the ministry of Justice, three thousand five hundred secondary school teachers, Doctors, over four hundred lecturers all over the higher institutions in Kogi state and several others too numerous to mention. He said the Commission is pleased with the ease and promptness with which the governor attends to anything that concerns the workforce and welfare of the civil servants. He promised that he will continue to do his best to justify the huge investment the Governor had done in the public service sector.
Earlier in his speech, the visiting Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi while presenting his speech, said the aim of the visit is to strengthen interagency collaboration, synergy among government officials, check level of performance in the Commission and assure the Commission of the continued support of the Governor. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi described Governor Yahaya Bello as a generous rewarder of excellent service and says that has been the secret behind the excellent performance of the Governor.
The Special Adviser who was elated commended the Commission Chairman for raising the bar of excellence and for being a true Ambassador of Governor Yahaya Bello with the sterling but silent performance going on at the Commission. He said the transparency with which the Commission under the Chairman’s diligent supervision conducted the promotion exercise, appointment of permanent Secretaries and discipline in the civil service have singled him out as a man of excellence, achievements and pragmatism like Governor Yahaya Bello.
The Special Adviser further said that Kogi State Civil Servants today are well motivated and are performing well in their various point of duty. He assured the Commission and civil servants of the unflinching and continuous support for the system for the overall success of the government.
Omoluabi Adeyemi says no civil service can succeed without adequate welfare, discipline and motivation as expected and that all of these have been the guiding principles of the Yahaya Bello led new direction administration. He said government is also readily available to do the legally required to create an enabling environment for better service delivery. He commended Kogi State Civil Service for being patriotic, hardworking, submissive to constituted authority and dedicated to work.
