Kogi CAN Hails Gov. Ododo’s Inclusive Leadership, Pledges Support for Peace and Development
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kogi State chapter, has described Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo as a purpose-driven leader, commending his inclusive style of governance that has fostered religious tolerance and harmony across the state.
CAN made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor by the state executive, led by the State Chairman, Special Apostle Adebayo Emmanuel.
The delegation included leaders of the five major blocs of the association and the 21 Local Government Area chairmen of CAN.
The association lauded Ododo’s people-oriented and results-driven governance, saying the visit was to present firsthand the challenges facing citizens and strengthen engagement between government and the church.
Apostle Emmanuel said the visit underscored the need to create access for mutual alliance, promote development, and prioritize institutional synergy between government and religious bodies.
He called for a closer government-people relationship to improve service delivery, noting that such partnerships help government understand the needs and desires of the people.
He also acknowledged the Governor’s support for CAN’s activities, and commended the administration’s efforts in the ongoing renovation and construction of 628 public schools, prompt payment of salaries, tax holidays for civil servants, and the construction of 110 cottage hospitals across the state. He further applauded the ongoing construction of the Kogi International Airport and other people-centered projects executed within two years.
Facilitator of the visit and Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, praised the Governor’s open-door policy, saying it had made every sector of society feel closer to government and ensured citizens’ voices received attention.
In his response, Governor Ododo thanked CAN for its prayers, encouragement, and peaceful disposition in the state. He assured that the security and protection of places of worship remained a top priority for his administration, and urged the church to sustain peaceful coexistence and respect for constituted authorities.
