KOGI BYE-ELECTION RECORDS LOW TURNOUT AS OPPOSITION ALLEGES IRREGULARITIES
The bye-election for Okura State Constituency in Kogi State recorded low voter turnout, with opposition parties alleging irregularities in the process.
It was a decisive day for residents of Okura State Constituency, who have waited patiently to elect a new representative following the death of their lawmaker, Enema Paul.
In some polling units, election materials arrived as early as 7:30 a.m., while in others, there were noticeable delays. Accreditation and voting took place simultaneously.
MILLER DANTAWAYE, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, express satisfaction with the security situation, said no issues of violence marred the election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oliver Agundu, while lamenting the low voter turnout, commended the peaceful conduct of the election.
He confirmed that minor incidents were promptly addressed by security agencies.
While some voters expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, others alleged that the process was marred by irregularities.
ISAH DANIEL, National Deputy Director, Organizing APC Headquarters and JOSEPH EGENE, Allied People’s Movement Candidate, lauded the peaceful conduct of the election, as well as registered pleasure respectively.
Despite concerns over credibility, many voters remain optimistic that whoever emerges winner will genuinely represent the interests of the people.
