Kogi and Lokoja LGAs Now Safe for APC, Bashiru Gegu Declares at Unity Meeting
Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has declared that Kogi and Lokoja Local Government Areas are now firmly in the hands of the All Progressives Congress, urging party members and supporters to be confident ahead of future elections.
Speaking at the APC stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja on Sunday, Gegu said the renewed unity among party leaders had ended internal divisions and positioned the constituency for stronger electoral performance.
“Now that we are working together, sleep with your two eyes closed. Kogi and Lokoja LGAs are in safe hands,” he said.
“In Kogi LGA we are known for saying the same truth. Once we tell you that we are with you, you can take our words to the bank. Kogi is for APC. Now that we are on the same page, we have declared our area a no-go zone for the opposition.”
Gegu said the party would deliver more votes than in previous elections, noting that past differences had been set aside following a directive for reconciliation.
“We may have had our differences, but since we got a directive, be rest assured that we will deliver more than we did in 2023,” he stated.
The meeting, held at the GRA Lodge of the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, brought together APC leaders, office holders, youth and women leaders, and grassroots mobilisers to consolidate the party’s structure in Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
Senator Sunday Karimi, who received a rousing welcome at the event, said his commitment to the people remained unwavering and outlined ongoing projects in education, empowerment, and water supply across the constituency.
Other speakers, including elder statesman Sulaiman Baba Ali and former Speaker Rt. Hon. Umar Alfa Imam, called for sustained reconciliation and pledged support for all APC candidates, including Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Gegu also disclosed that political structures loyal to former aspirant Sam Aro would be integrated into the mainstream APC to strengthen unity and electoral strength ahead of the primaries.
