Kogi 2026 Local Govt Elections: KOSIEC Pushes Transparency & Peaceful Civic Contest

Kogi State is moving towards stronger, more transparent, and credible democratic practices for the October 2026 Local Government Elections.

The State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has been engaging political stakeholders, pledging to turn the polls from a battlefield of suspicion into a peaceful contest of ideas.

KOSIEC Chairman, Hon. Mamman Nda
Eri, in his opening remarks at a workshop organized for stakeholders, stressed that elections should be seen as a civic responsibility, not conflict.

He noted that the 2025 law provides a collective guide—clear steps, responsibilities, timelines, and safeguards—to make the local polls more predictable, transparent, and credible.

Hon. Eri in the KOSIEC workshop in collaboration with Equity Craftsmen Law Office, held for political stakeholders to simplify the legal and procedural framework under the new law, titled “Understanding the 2025 Electoral Law for Local Govt Elections.”

Similarly, the KOSIEC Chairman said the future of the forthcoming Kogi State Local Government Election is not only dependent on the Commission but on the collective will of the people to uphold what is right, urged stakeholders and citizens to appreciate the electoral law as a roadmap.
