KGSHIA Interfaces with Stakeholders, Healthcare Providers on Benefit Package Review
The Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA) has convened a strategic interface meeting with key stakeholders and healthcare providers to review its benefit package, as part of efforts to enhance service delivery to enrollees across the state.
The meeting, held at Defayo Hotel in Lokoja, critically examined prevailing realities, including the current pricing of drugs and the cost of healthcare services rendered by providers under the Agency’s scheme. Discussions focused on aligning these costs with present economic conditions while maintaining quality and accessibility of care.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Secretary of KGSHIA, Dr. Adekunle Aledare, noted that the last review of the benefit package was conducted approximately two years ago. He emphasized that the ongoing review had become necessary to ensure that enrollees continue to receive optimal healthcare services in line with current realities.
Dr. Aledare urged participants to make meaningful contributions, stressing that the outcome of the exercise should reflect a balanced consideration of the interests of the Agency, healthcare providers, and enrollees alike.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Agency’s Board, Pharm. Suberu Arikochonu, called on participants to approach the exercise with diligence and a strong sense of responsibility. He expressed confidence that their inputs would significantly strengthen the Agency’s operations and overall service delivery.
In his contribution, the Kogi State Coordinator of the National Health Insurance Authority, Mallam Sani Suleiman, underscored the importance of collaboration among all partners involved in the scheme. He encouraged participants to give their best in the review process to ensure a more robust and responsive benefit package.
As part of the proceedings, Dr. Mariam Abdulsalam and Pharm. Kenneth Ameh presented a comprehensive review of the Agency’s existing benefit package, highlighting key areas requiring adjustment. Subsequently, participants were divided into groups to undertake a detailed review of the package, with the aim of producing practical and sustainable recommendations.
The interface meeting marks a significant step by KGSHIA towards strengthening its healthcare delivery framework and ensuring that its benefit package remains responsive to the needs of enrollees and service providers.
