Karimi Secures Unanimous APC Backing in Yagba, Vows More Development Ahead of Monday Primary

Senator Sunday Karimi will face Monday’s APC primary in Yagba Federal Constituency as the party’s consensus candidate, following a unanimous endorsement by stakeholders at a meeting in Isanlu.

The decision signals a united front for the ruling party in the area, with local leaders saying the focus has shifted from past disagreements to delivering a decisive win for the senator at both the primary and the general election.

Leaders across party structures in Yagba East, West, and Mopamuro said the move reflects broad confidence in Karimi’s representation over the last term. They cited his work on education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment as reasons for backing him without a contest.

The senator, who received a warm reception on arrival, told party members that the next phase would be about building on what has been started. He pledged to push for more projects in roads, water supply, and skills development, with added focus on support for women and students.

“This mandate is about consolidating gains and expanding reach. Yagba has given me a platform, and I intend to use it to attract more opportunities back home,” Karimi said.

He acknowledged the role of party unity in achieving results, noting that internal cohesion had made it easier to push constituency interests at the National Assembly. He also called on members to remain focused and avoid distractions ahead of the primary.

Stakeholders at the meeting said the endorsement was reached after consultations across wards, with women and youth groups playing a key role in mobilising support. They expressed optimism that a unified structure would improve turnout and strengthen APC’s position in Kogi West.

With the primary hours away, party officials said logistics and mobilisation were already in motion to ensure a smooth process and a strong showing for Karimi.
