Just In: Ohimegye Igu Kotonkarfe Officially Turbaned
The Ohimegye Igu Kotonkarfe, HRM Alh. Saidu Akawu Salihu has been turbaned.
The turbaning ceremony took place today at the Palace of the Ohimegye, in Kogi LGA of Kogi State.
The turbaning was done by the Kingmakers at the Odaki ruling House.
Shortly after the turbaning, HRM, the Ohimegye Igu Kotonkarfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, urged the people to work in unity.
He promised to carry all the people along, solicited cooperation of the people.
The turbaning was witnessed by thousands of well-wishers who trooped to the residence of the new Ohimagye Igu of Koton-Karfe on Tuesday to register their support for the new King, Saidu Akawu Salihu.
Mr Salihu’s who arrived at his residence in a white BMW car was greeted by the jubilant crowd that had been waiting for him.
Dressed in a white ‘Babban Riga’ and white royal shoes to match, the new emir stepped out of the car and squeezed himself through the crowd.
In the crowd were many traditional title holders who had also rushed to his residence to pay obeisance to the new emir.
The Kogi State Government had on Monday announced the appointment of Saidu Akawu Salihu as the new Ohimagye Igu of Koton-Karfe after the dethronement of Alhaji Isa Koto by Governor Yahaya Bello.
Salihu was finally turbaned by the king makers.
