NAKOSS RECEIVES MEDICAL & LAW STUDENT BODIES AS THEY APPEAL FOR INCLUSION IN GOVERNMENT SUBVENTION

 

In a bid to strengthen ties between student bodies and the state government, representatives from The Kogi State Medical Students’ Association (KOMSA) and the National Association of Kogi State Law Students of Nigeria (NAKOLSON) paid a courtesy visit to the National President, National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS); Comr. Dr. Jeremiah Elukpo, on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024.

Led by the National President of KOMSA, Comr. Samuel Adeku, and accompanied by Comr. Suleiman and Comr. Khadija Ibrahim from NAKOLSON, the delegation expressed their gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering commitment and support towards Kogi State Students.

During the meeting, the KOMSA President appealed for KOMSA to be captured in the monthly subvention and also the implementation of the already existing bond agreement between KOMSA and the Kogi State Government signed in 2018, which intends to ensure concentration of Medical Doctors in the State in no distant time.

Representatives from NAKOLSON also expressed their desire to be captured in the monthly subvention magnanimously being paid by Kogi State Government in order to benefit the Law students. They particularly appealed for the resumption of scholarship awards for Law students who gain admission into Law School to enable them not to loose out on the opportunity of being Called to Bar because of how capital intensive it is.

In his response, the National President of NAKOSS, Comr. Dr. Jeremiah Elukpo, MBBS, commended the efforts of KOMSA and NAKOLSON in promoting inclusivity within the administration. He stated that when he was President of KOMSA, his administration entered into a partnership with NAKOLSON for the benefit of Kogi Students and feels joyful that both bodies have come to pay him a courtesy visit together. He pledged to convey their appeals to the Student-friendly Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and assured them of his administration’s steadfast support.

Also in attendance was the NAKOSS Senate President, NAKOSS Legal Adviser, Personal Assistant and Chief of Staff to the NAKOSS President. The visit signifies a proactive step towards fostering collaboration between student organizations and the Kogi State Government, aiming to enhance the welfare and educational opportunities for students across Kogi State.
