June 12, a call for obedience to the rule of law & unity in the country— Rt. Hon. Oligbi-Edeko
Rt. Hon. Maria Omozele Oligbi-Edeko Esq, the Immediate Past Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, has urged Nigerians to uphold the ideals symbolized by June 12.
In a statement issued in Benin, Oligbi-Edeko emphasised that June 12 represents more than just a date, adding that it stands as a powerful symbol of the collective struggle for justice, equity, and participatory governance.
“It reminds us of the sacrifices made by heroes, known and unknown, who laid the foundation for the democratic freedoms we enjoy today,” she said.
She further called for obedience to the rule of law, noting that democracy thrives through everyday acts of courage, fairness, equity & justice.
“Let this June 12 be a call to unity. Let us remember that our country & democracy can only survive when everyone strives to do what is lawful, our courage to speak up, our commitment to truth, fairness & love for our country.”
