Hon. Shaba Ibrahim, Member Representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency of Kogi State has broken a jinx yet again at Omoko community in Kogi Local Government Area.
Omoko community in over six decades has been suffering from lack of access to potable water. Before now, the only source the residents of the community have been using, is that of wells that do dry up during dry season, leaving them with no option than to patronise commercial water suppliers that source water from unhealthy streams at exorbitant rates.
According to residents, “Attempts have been made severally in the past to sink borehole in this community (Omoko) without success, we give thanks to God Almighty who has made it possible through Hon. Shaba Ibrahim.”
“Indeed Hon. Shaba is a bulldozer, his ability to succeed in providing a productive borehole in this difficult terrain, shows he is really a saviour”, a community leader said, while showing pressmen around.
As water gushed out even freely and abundantly, giving life to the reality of hope of ease of access to potable water by the residents, the joy on the faces of residents of the community could not be quantified, as they trooped out in their numbers from nooks and crannies to get water easily and freely during yet a dry season for the first time.
Provision of potable water to communities, is one of Hon. Shaba Ibrahim’s key agenda, as the importance of water to everyday life cannot be over-emphasized. Felele, Banda, Karara and Omoko are already enjoying from his gestures.
In the words of Mr Chado Yakubu, Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Shaba Ibrahim, “This is the true meaning of dividend of democracy. Expect the Honourable Member to extend this same gesture to more and more communities within the Constituency in the days ahead.
“We are not done yet (in terms of good works and fulfillment of campaign promises to constituents), be sure of that. Hon. Shaba is indeed walking the talk. We thank God for blessing us as a Constituency with such a hardworking and caring representative, especially at a time like this that the Government at the centre is on its part, making life difficult for Nigerians”.
