JNI OKUNLAND MARKS HIJRAH 1443A.H – HONOURS AMBASSADOR USMAN BELLO AND THREE OTHERS


Jama’atu Nasril Islam in Okunland, Kogi State has marked the New Hijrah Calendar 1443A.H at Ayegunle Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area with a call on Muslims to unite for the progress of Islam.

 


The Chairman, Okun branch of the Islamic body, Alhaji Isiaka Sule made the call in an address of welcome at the well celebrated Islamic New year at Ayegunle Gbede on Sunday. Alhaji Sule described as a thing of joy the lack of Skirmishes among Islamic Organizations and saluted the Heads of various groups for keeping their members united in line with the injunction of the Holy Qur’an.
The Okunland JNI leader used the occasion to commend the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for being a pillar of support to religious groups, stressing that such support has brought about a healthy religious environment in the State.
He further announced the conferment of Merit Awards on some Muslims in the State who had made sacrifices for Islam. Four of them including the State Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Ambassador Usman Bello, the inaugural Chairman of the body in the State, Alhaji Ahmad Badamasuiy, Alhaji Hamzat Ahmed and Mallam Hassan Taiwo Yinusa were conferred with Merit Awards at the event.
Responding on behalf of the Awardees, the State JNI Chairman, Ambassador Usman Bello thanked JNI Okunland for finding them worthy of the honour and promised to do more in support of the Chapter.
Highlights of the event includes the unveiling of the New Hijrah Calendar and Magazine by Alhaji Hudu Abdulsalam, a special lecture on trust in Islam delivered by Ustaz Muhammad Jamiu Kazim and presentation of gifts to indigenes of Okunland who excelled at various levels of Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Nigeria.
The Occasion was attended by Architect Salman Idris who chaired the occasion, the Secretary of JNI in the State, Alhaji Isa Adeboye, Hajiya Sifau Bojuwon from U.K, Imams and leaders of Council of Ulamau in Okunland and other parts of Kogi State.
