It is my duty as Representative to give back to the people – Hon. Shaba Ibrahim


 

 

The House of Representatives Member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Shaba Ibrahim says he is not asking for anything from the community because of the projects. When he was asked about his expectations from the community for his gesture, his reply was”Nothing”, that he is only determined more than ever before to work assiduously towards uplifting the well-being of the people of his Constituency.

He stated this while flagging off the construction of a multi-million Naira Ugwo water channel bridge in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He lamented the plight of the people arising from poor road network especially during flooding, noting that it has affected the economic life of the people negatively.
His gesture at this time he said is to give back to the people in fulfilment of his campaign promises assuring of more dividends of democracy to the people of the area.

Ugwo community leader Saliu Okoro who is the Osai of the community, explained that the people of the community are predominantly farmers and fishermen who transport their produce to Lokoja through the river, noting that it is expensive, risky and time consuming. He thanked Hon. Shaba Ibrahim for coming to their rescue with the bridge after decades of suffering, and promised to reciprocate the gesture when the time comes.

The bridge project when completed in the next 3 months is expected to boost the economic growth of the people and improve their well being.

The Hon. Member also received royal blessings from His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Nuhu, the Chief of the community. The community chief prayed for him that God will continue to give him strength to do more for the Constituency.
