
The Executive Secretary, Kogi State Office For Disability Affairs, Barr Zacchaeus Dare Michael has sent a message of felicitations to the disability community in Kogi State on the auspicious occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disability.

The International Day of Persons with Disability is a day designated by the United Nations to celebrate the persons with Disability every 3rd day of December to celebrate persons with Disabilities.
In a statement issued by the Kogi State Executive Secretary for Disability Affairs, Barr. Dare described the
day as day set aside to celebrate the community, even though he said the 19th day of December has been set aside to mark the occasion at the Glass House Government House for the grand celebration.
He used the opportunity to greet Gov. Yahaya Bello for given the disability community a voice in the State, said to whom much is given, much is expected, used the opportunity to thank Gov. Bello for his benevolence, assured of the support of persons with Disabilities in the State.
He called on partners in the State to work with the Kogi State Governor to make life seamless for the disability community, said KOSODA is well positioned to cater for persons with disabilities.
He said from January 2023 the office of the disability affairs will begin with the enforcement of the laws to make the disability community have access to public places.
He said all banks, schools, churches, public institutions must have access for persons with disabilities to access such places, described the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to ask for all access to there rights and privileges.
He called for all cases of abuse and stigmatization should be reported to KOSODA pointing out that the office is now well positioned with legal team to fight against abuses inimical to persons with Disabilities.
