Implementation Sub Committee Take Off Site Kogi State University Kabba Visits Permanent Site, Mopa.


 

The Sub-Committee for the Implementation of the take off of the Kogi State University Kabba in it Permanent site today visited the College of Education (Technical), Kabba and Mopa respectively.

 

The high powered sub committee delegation was led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Folashade Ayoade Arike. The Committee made a stop over at the Palace of the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, paid homage before heading to the Permanent sites of the University as well as the proposed site for the relocation of the College of Education Technical Kabba.

The Implementation Committee for the Establishment of the Kogi State University Kabba is headed by Prof. Olu Obafemi.

In his remarks at the Palace, the Kogi State Commissioner For Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones, described the establishment of the University as a reality and not politics.

Hon. Jones who spoke on behalf of the delegation, assured that the University will begin academic activities after admission in September.

The Commissioner desclosed that the Kogi State University Kabba is moving at supersonic speed, explained that aside the recognition by the National University Commission, the University was also given recognition, solicited the support and cooperation of the traditional ruler and people of the area for the smooth take off of the University.

In his remarks, the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, expressed gratitude to Gov. Yahaya Bello for making it a reality for the Okun People to have a University after several years of agitation.

The Traditional Ruler described the importance of having the Kogi State University located in Kabba as one that cannot be overemphasized in terms of socio economic development, described the University as wholly owned by Okun People.

The Traditional Ruler assured of the cooperation of the people of Okunland to the actualization and early take off of the University, desclosed that a Trust Fund has been established to muster support for the take off of the University.

The sub committee had the Commissioner for Finance, Works, several professors, the Provost College of Education Technical Kabba amongst other members.
