ILPA Honours Former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Prof. Steven Ocheni with Meritorious Award

The Former Minister of State For Labour and Productivity, Prof. Steven Ocheni has been honoured with a Meritorious Award for his leadership and Philanthropic gestures.

 

The Former Minister was described as man with untainted leadership qualities when he served as Minister, urged that his philanthropic gestures should be emulated by Leaders at all levels towards making the society and country better place.

 

Bishop Crown Adebo, Director and Convener of International Leaders and Peace Advocate Initiative (ILPA), an Initiative in honour of Late Hon. John Abah, former Member Representing Ibaji State Constituency made the remarks at the 2nd year Memorial Anniversary in Honour of Late Hon. John Abah.

While pointing out that the former Minister’s conduct in public and private life remains a positive reference, said his life style at all times encapsulates what the International Leaders and Peace Advocate Initiative (ILPA), stands for.

He described Prof. Ocheni as a leader free from corrupt practices affecting contemporary leadership in the country, lauded his impactful achievements to the people and community when he served as a Minister.

The Convener added that the former Member, Kogi State House of Assembly, Representing Ibaji State Constituency, late Abah lived a simple and impactful life like the former Minister, adds that with the positive impacts of the likes of Prof. Ocheni in a society where people no longer give to the society, the world would be a better place.

Speaking after receiving the award, Prof. Steven Oseni, representated by Comr. Ali Atabor, described the award as a honour that would spur him to do more for the people.

The former Minister called on Nigerians at all levels to show leadership at all levels, pointing out that, with good leadership, it would easy advocating for Peace in the society

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Memorial, Hon. David Apeh, Kogi State Commissioner for Agriculture, described Late Hon. John Abah as a personality and politician who keeps to agreement.

He added that Late Abah was humane,
Calm, Calculative and a
Philanthropists while alive, urged the younger generation to emulate his leadership style.
Man of peace

The Commissioner who was the Chairman of the occasion, cautioned against politics of bitterness in Ibaji and amongst the people.

He charged clergymen to shun barbaric ways of preaching that creates disharmony, called on men of God to find a solution to ways of preaching that create conflict, blamed such tendencies on ignorance, urged them to focus on prayers for the development of the area.

Kogi as Oil producing State and Late Hon. John Abah’s Legacies was a book presented at the memorial, was
Authored by Crown Adebo, was reviewed by Dr. Gabriel Ottah.

The two year Memorial brought in people from all Works of life, Traditional Rulers, Academicians, Politicians and Members of the Deplomatic corps, all eulogized the life and times of the former lawmaker that represented Ibaji State Constituency for two terms.
