Former Governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion on Monday appealed for more commitment in the rehabilitation and reconstruction works on the Benin Auchi Highway saying the road is a death trap for commuters.
The former Governor also tasked government at all levels on youth empowerment and development as part of her efforts in addressing youth unemployment in the country.
Igbinedion made the call, shortly after he bagged the Mentor Award of the Year conferred on him by the management of Intercontinental Paint during the official commissioning of the Benin office of Intercontinental Paint and Fair Exhibition in Edo state.
He said government should prioritise it’s support for the youth by putting in place mechanisms that enhance youth development particularly in the area of economic growth and development.
According to him, a focused and determined youth population will drive Nigeria’s development.
He opined that youth development is sacrosanct in any nation’s growth stressing the need for government to put in place basic infrastructures to drive economic development that embraces the youth as future leaders.
He called on the federal government to intervene in the dilapidated Benin Auchi Highway to save economic manpower being wasted on the failed portions of the highway and further enhance the growth and development of Edo state.
On his part, Managing Director, Intercontinental Paint, Omoregie Aigbe said that it’s products stands out today as one of the best within the industry with a wide range coverage area and long lasting performance for both home and office locations.
