The Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Muhammed Dan’Asebe Muhammed, has promised to empower youths in skills acquisition in order to reduce the rate of crime and unemployment.
Dan’Asebe Muhammed, made the pledge in a chat with newsmen in his office shortly after the swearing in of the 10 elected councillors on Tuesday.
He said various empowerment programmes, which were in tandem with Governor Yahaya Bello’s vision towards eradicating unemployment among the teaming youths, as well as, promote socio-economic development, were in the pipeline.
“We have observed that a lot of our youths lack skills and knowledge, needed to create wealth and this is part of what our administration will look into, in emulation of Governor Bello’s empowerment goals’’, he said.
The LG Boss also revealed that agriculture would be explored to further create employment opportunities and boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Council, just as many developmental projects would be embarked in the Council Area.
He urged the people to be patient, law abiding and cooperate with the present administration in its development drive, assuring that the dividend of democracy would get to all.
