I HAVE NOT DECLARED FOR 2031 GOVERNORSHIP RACE – ENGR. BASHIR GEGU

The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has debunked reports claiming he has declared to contest the 2031 governorship election in Kogi State.
In a statement on Monday, Engr. Gegu described a trending graphic design circulating on social media to that effect as “false, misleading, and the handiwork of mischief makers.”
“I wish to state categorically that I have not made any declaration whatsoever regarding the 2031 governorship election,” he said.
The Commissioner said the priority of the party at this time remains the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the victory of all candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming polls.
He urged those behind the unfounded publication to desist and channel their energy toward supporting the Governor’s second term bid.
“The task before us as party faithful is to consolidate the gains of the present administration and deliver the APC in all elections,” he stated.
Engr. Gegu also cautioned against actions capable of causing division in Kogi West, stressing the need for unity of purpose among the people.
“2031 is still far away. Let us pray for Allah’s guidance, protection and long life for all of us beyond then,” he added.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Kogi State under Governor Ododo, and to supporting the vision of the APC both in the state and at the national level under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The Commissioner called on the public, party members and the media to disregard the trending publication and to always verify information from official channels.
