Housing: Plans to Transform our Waterfront Residential schemes remains top priority. – Engr Ohere


 

Kogi State Governor His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello has intensify effort to unveil the creation of waterfront schemes to reduce housing and land deficit. The schemes will cut across the three senatorial districts and areas bordering the water body.

 

Despite the nation’s economic downturn, which has stifled internally generated revenue, kogi State government is already seeing a huge opportunities in major monuments and wooing local and international prospective investors to take advantage of the prevailing peace and security in the state to increase their investments.

In its blueprint, the government is proposing the rehabilitation of waterfront schemes, provision of jetty and how to engage private sector buy -in to the establishment, resuscitation, rehabilitation and develop our water front residential areas, that is, by public private partnership (PPP) programme initiatives.

The Hon. Commissioner for Works and housing Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere made this known today during the meeting held in his office with the officials of Messrs Egletek Home Builders limited in an effort to spread more infrastructural facilities across Kogi State under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.

According to Engr. Ohere “The ministry is at the moment working on the feasibility and expression of partnership interest received from willing investors with a view to coming up with a position that fits into the New Direction Policy of this administration. Engr Ohere further hinted that, with smart infrastructure integration strategy all the identified urban informal settlements and sprawl areas of Kogi state metropolis using smart frameworks will be the first beneficiaries as proposed.

Engr. Ohere also hinged that His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s conviction and believe on the need for a smart development ideology culminated in the recent approach to clean up and rehabilitate the river bank in lokoja. Part of the directives of His Excellency he said , was for the ministry to carry out studies on dangerous spots clearance, integrating buildings, building infrastructure, basic facilities, and services with real-time information technology to achieve sustainable development in Kogi State.

Responding the team lead of the Company Engr Olaleken Alabi appreciate the giant strides of His Excellency in the areas of infrastructural development and the his policy documents, the new direction blue print that actually provides the benchmark for Kogi development. Engr Alabi said the information made available is very clear and friendly with what obtains globally. He therefore expressed the commitment of their organization to partner with the State in areas where smart ideologies can be integrated into existing building and infrastructures in the study areas to further improved the economic situation of the state.
