House of Reps member, Damisa empowers 100 youths, women again in Okene


 

Honourable Tijani~Ahned Yusuf Damisa, member representing Okene-Ogori/Magongo Federal Constituency at the green chambers has empowered another set of over 100 youths and women with griding machines, sewing machines and financial assistance to make them self-reliant.

Hon. Damisa who is also Chairman of the House committee on FCT and Anxillary Matters while addressing the beneficiaries through his personal assistant Hon Adams Ibrahim Kadoka on Saturday said it was the responsibility of elected leaders to empower their people to help alleviate poverty and make them useful to their household economically.

He noted that the project was part of his constituency project meant to impact positively on the lives of his people, adding “ He was elected to serve his people and as a servant of the people he has continue to empower his people and this is 18th batch this year.”

He said griding machine were to empower the youths and reduce unemployment in his constituents while sewing machines would be used to empower women to make them contribute effectively to the economic wellbeing of their households.

The Honourable also added that cash assistance of N20, 000 each was given to 100 youths from his constituents as start up capital for any small scale business of their choice said Kadoka.

The resources person from National Productivity Center in conjunction with RENEE Pharmacy Limited commended Hon. Damisa for his empowerment programme tagged “Empowerment and Grant Program, adding that the items and cash grant, if properly handled and utilized by the beneficiaries, would have positive impact on communities as well as improve the socio-economic lives of these communities while reducing unemployment among the youths.

He urged other lawmakers to emulate Hon. Damisa by initiating programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of their constituents in the overall interest of Nigerians.
