If you are conversant with Kogi State history and its abundance mineral resources therein, you will agree with me that the state can be said to be one of the states blessed with natural resources in Nigeria yet slowly developing as a state.
Yes, Successive governments especially the Government of Governor Yahaya Bello has in the last seven (7) years focused on structural economic transformation for long term economic growth with commensurate developmental plans.
The state economy became diversified not only in terms of output, but also in terms of productivity and revenue generation.
However, this stride needs to be consolidated, hence, the Kogi of my dream through the combination of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo – an accountant and fulfilled Auditor General for Local Government and Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, a Doctorate of Political Economy and a fulfilled Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
The combination of Ododo/Ogbo as I foresee, will seamlessly win November 11, 2023 election because of the wide acceptance enjoyed from the youths and will no doubt invest hugely on education, research and development such that will greatly contribute to our transition to a knowledge-based economy and I am sure they will develop a robust social protection system that adequately caters for our vulnerable geriatric and increasing population.
Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman will by character assessment improve the productivity and employability of our working age population, create a skill-based educational system that will complement the tertiary education system –ensuring the creation of what we call “white-collar jobs” or skill-based jobs.
They will constitute a broad apprenticeship program that trained and acquaint students with high demand industrial and technology skills.
The combination will also create a certification system for students which will be used to confirm their competencies by industries and organizations that require their services.
Of course, insecurity will be approached from a holistic perspective. With de-escalated ethnical tensions resulting from massive citizen reorientation and improved political settlement, marked improvement in all human development and economic indices and a rejuvenated security force.
The system will engage media organizations to consistently condemn acts of false information and adopt editorial policies that embodied patriotism while denying the men of the underworld the notoriety they so much desired.
Deep sigh! The Kogi of my dream.
Optimistically, this is possible and of course the surest plug for Kogi November election.
