Hon. Leke Abejide Orders Arrest of Kogi Journalist.

Men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kogi State command have arrested the Editor of an online newspaper, Kogi Reports, Opeyemi Owoeye on the orders of Hon. Leke Abejide, Member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency.
It was learnt that the journalist was lured to a hotel by the Personal Assistant to the Honorable Member Mr Otunba Asoremoseka where he was arrested by NSCDC officials on Thursday in Lokoja.
Sources said that the journalist was arrested following a report which he published linking Hon. Abejide to the controversial All Progressives Congress (APC) Kogi West Senatorial primary election.
It was learnt that Abejide allegedly directed the NSCDC to effect the arrest on Thursday.
The story in question alleged that the lawmaker was seeking to use the office of the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to change the outcome of the APC Senatorial primary for Kogi West in a bid to install an aspirant who did not participate in the primary election.
The Public Relations Officer of Kogi State Command of NSCDC, Aliyu Abdullahi who confirmed the arrest however told journalists that the journalist has been released since Thursday.
Abdullahi, who spoke with our correspondent on Friday, explained that he intervened to ensure the release of the journalist.
He added that the journalist is no more in the custody of the command.
“He has been released since yesterday. He was released and left yesterday. It has been confirmed. He is no more in our custody.
“I am not in the intelligence unit but all I know is that they said he wrote a publication.
“But what i know is that mine is to intervene as the Public Relations Officer with the union of journalists who are my our friends and ensure that the issue is resolved and released.
“And to the glory of God, he has been released in my presence.
This is not the first time Hon. Keke Abejide is arresting journalist in Kogi State who publish reports that are not favorable to him.
