As Nigerians are prepared to elect their leaders that will pilot the affairs of the country for the next four years in tomorrow’s general elections, the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba has urged his people, Ibaji community to have a unity of purpose and vote the leaders that have the plight of the community at heart.
The former Deputy Governor who gave the charge at Ibaji Stakeholders meeting he organised in his Idah residence today, enjoined Ibajians to do a holistic review of what they achieved from the present administration and respond to it with their votes.
He said there was no reason for the people to return a government that neglected the community in all areas of development due to it, saying Ibaji people are not fools and should not be seen as such.
The former Deputy Governor informed the gathering which cut across all parties members in Ibaji, that a fair assessment of the Northern Christian Leaders of all candidates contesting for political positions, gave the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) upper hands to win the general elections in all elective offices, urging his kinsmen to cast their votes for the party.
He recalled what the entire Ibaji community benefited from the PDP when it was in power, advising them to work for the party in all elections, both at the Federal, state and local government for the good of the people.
The former Deputy Governor also enjoined his people to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and forgive each other of whatever differences that might have arisen in the journey for political relevance, and pursue a common front.
According to the former Deputy Governor, Ibaji people are seriously in need of access road, functioning schools, hospitals and other infrastructures, and will continue to fight for it until they are achieved.
Speaking, Engineer Ibrahim Ocheje, a stakeholder in PDP tasked participants and the entire Ibajians to always respect leadership for the purposes of progress, saying the people will achieve their development goals if the leaders in the community are accorded their due respect.
He said PDP would remember Ibaji people and kogi state as a whole when voted into power, urging them to unite for the development of the area.
He expressed satisfaction over the turn out of the meeting he described as crucial, urging the stakeholders to sustain the initiative.
On his part, the House of Representatives candidate of PDP, Ocholi Uchola, thanked the forum for the support given to the party, promising that he will not disappoint them when voted to power.
The meeting was attended by all stakeholders in Ibaji, including politicians contesting elections.
