Group Warns Gov. Yahaya Bello On 2023 Presidency

The group, North Central Coalition for Leadership has warned Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State not to succumb to pressure from certain quarters and from the old order to drop the idea of contesting for the 2023 Presidential election. The National coordinator, Williams Charles said this while speaking with press men today at their office.

Williams while speaking said ” We cannot continue to mortgage our future into the hands of the old order. People who have not been able to come to terms with the demands of the 21st Century and contemporary times, delivering technological development as obtained in other parts of the world, where the youth are taking over leadership positions in governance .

” Gov. Yahaya Bello should take a cue from the just concluded Ugandan presidential election where Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) a 38 year old youth shock Ugandan politics and gave Yoweri Museveni the 76 years old Ugandan President a run . The popular parlance “Youth are the leaders of tomorrow” is the biggest scam of the century to keep youth away from participating and aspiring for high political offices.

“As a matter of fact, power is not given, it is taken and like the popular passage in the holy book that says, the kingdom of God suffers violence and only the violent takes it by force. We are angry in our spirit. We have been undermined, beating down to the background, and so we say enough is enough. If we are waiting for these men to hand us power, it would be an endless wait. Power is taken, and this is the reasons I am calling on all Nigerian youth to support Gov. Yahaya Bello when and if he eventually accepts to contest the 2023 Presidential election.

” While not undermining the old, we need them around as guide due to the working experiences they have garnered over the years, but they should be at the background supporting the youth. Williams said.

List of countries with young leaders that are doing well are endless. Justin Trudeau was 44 years old when he became Prime Minister of Canada. Emmanuel Macron was 40 years old when he became the president of France. Carlos Alvarado Quesada was 39 when he became president of Coaster Rica . Jacinda Ardern became president of New Zealand when she became 39 years old, the list is endless. Gov. Yahaya Bello is in this age bracket and so fits in perfectly well.

” While not underming our core objective, which is to produce a president from North Central, group called on Gov. Yahaya Bello to ignore the calls and pressure being mounted to jettison any of such ambition, but heed the calls of numerous groups to declare for the President in the 2023 presidential election to avoid mass protest by the youth
