A Socio Cultural Group, the EDO NATIONAL VOICE (ENV) has applauded the decision of his Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, CFR on the removal of Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbaen as the Enogie (Duke) of Egbaen Siluko Dukedom in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The group has earlier in their press release called on some Enigies who signed the sacrilegious letters demanding the inauguration of local government traditional council as against the Customs and Tradition of our revered Benin Kingdom to denounce their actions before the public and recommended stringent punishment for other Enigies who are recalcitrant.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, CFR has sacked Mr Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbaen as the Enogie (Duke) of Egbaen Siluko Dukedom in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State,
Ogiegbaen’s sack comes one month after he was shoved aside as Chief Coordinator to the Palace on Enigie matters in January 2023 over alleged rebellion, dereliction of his duties and uprising in the Enigie’s fold in Benin Kingdom, triggering a wave of backlash.
Oba Ewuare II made the proclamation during ‘open mediation in his palace in Benin City where he announced the appointment of Capt. Uwadiae Ohonbamumwen (Rted) as the Odionwere in Egbaen Siluko’s Dukedom.
Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbaen the Enogie (Duke) of Egbaen Siluko Dukedom in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State had In a letter to the governor with some Enogie’s demanded the inauguration of local government traditional council as against the Customs and Tradition of revered Benin Kingdom .
In a release signed by comrade Iyamu Osaro Culture-President, Comrade Osaghae Collins Amadin-Secretary General and five others said the recent sacrilegious action orchestrated by defiant and uncultured Enigies is not unconnected with the plans by some enemies of Benin Kingdom to re -loot our stolen Artifacts and it’s proceeds.
Iyamu stated that, “failure to actualize their selfish plans against our revered Throne and Benin Kingdom, they secretly lured the sacked Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen Siluko and his gang with money in a bid to causing division within our well structured Kingdom. Subsequent upon the above, we want to use this medium to remind the enemies of Benin Kingdom whose stocks in trade is to reloot our stolen Artifacts and it’s proceeds to find other business doing because we will not allow them to have access to our stolen Artifacts.”
Comrade Iyamu further added that, “ the
removal & replacement of the gang leader, the Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen Of Siluko is symmetry and represent the wishes and aspirations of the issues raised by EDO NATIONAL VOICE (ENV).”
They thanked his Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, CFR for his fatherly role by listening to the wishes of the citizens.
