A Socio Cultural group, the Aiguobasinmwin Movement World -Wide , (AMW), has debunked allegations of unbiased treatment of BENIN People in the University of Benin Teaching Hospital by the new Chief Medical Director, CMD, Prof .Idia Nibokun Ize- Iyamu.
Reacting to the allegations in a press release made available to Journalists in Benin City, and signed by the President and Secretary, Iyamu Osaro Culture and Osayuki-Osa Benson, said, “PROFESSOR IDIA NIBOKUN IZE-IYAMU, THE CHIEF MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF UBTH IS UNBIASED EDO WOMAN AND A MOTHER TO ALL”
According to them , those making the dubious accusations are agents of destabilization who does not want anything good for the Hospital.
The statement reads :-
Contrary to the fake news being spread around by those loyal to former Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital that the new Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu has removed Benin people from their positions, it is becoming imperative to set the records straight.
In honesty, there is no iota of truth suggesting that Professor Ize-Iyamu has removed Benin or Edo people from their positions. Instead, her move was necessitated upon the preliminary investigations conducted across various Departments/Units in University of Benin Teaching Hospital wherein it was observed that some Head of Departments/Units were found culpable which prompted her to direct the affected persons to handover to the most senior persons in their various office in line with civil service rules to allow for thorough investigations.
Thus, this strategic and bold step towards strengthening University of Benin Teaching Hospital is one of Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu goal and she has expressed her vision for University of Benin Teaching Hospital to become a model Health Institution in Nigeria, focusing on people-first service delivery, quality assurance, and strategic innovation.
Like we often opine, bearing a Benin name is not sufficient for one to be called a true Benin person or an avenue to misbehave as office holders. While we frown at the manner some persons especially those who were found culpable are hell bent to destabilizing the progress being recorded by the Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu within the space of one month over the redeployment of 3 persons from their offices who suddenly remembered that they’re Benins, it is sacrosanct to set the records straight for prosperity and historical purpose which are as follows:
1. Mr. Ighodaro Emmanuel who was the Head of Corporate Service was involved in shading dealings during Professor Darlington Obaseki administration but immediately Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu took over as Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, she sent for him to bring report of his stewardship throughout the former administration of Professor Darlington Obaseki, the said Mr. Ighodaro Emmanuel bluntly refused to turn in the report, as humble as she is, the new Chief Medical Director took her phone and placed call on him, Mr. Ighodaro Emmanuel told the Chief Medical Director that he wouldn’t submit any report to her wherein Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu got infuriated and was directed to hand over to the most senior person in his office which is in line with civil service rules.
Sadly, after he handed over to the next in command, it was discovered that the said Mr. Ighodaro Emmanuel was not remitting any money to University of Benin Teaching Hospital from corporate staff (NNPC, NPDC, RRIN, NIFOR etc) that came for treatments during the period under investigations.
Immediately the probe hammer fell on Mr. Ighodaro Emmanuel, he confessed to using his personal account to collect money that belongs to University of Benin Teaching Hospital and he has started returning the money in his possession in tranches.
2. A few months to Professor Darlington Obaseki expiration as former Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Mr. Wilson Omuemu put forward to purchase an SUV vehicle at the amount of N125M. This Head of Transportation signed for the vehicle which has not been supplied, the money was processed, whereas the vehicle didn’t come.
Similarly, two days to the handover ceremony of Professor Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, the said Head of Transportation Unit auctioned the institution vehicle at meager money ranging from #100,000 to #300,000. Regrettably, there were several reports of missing vehicles under Mr. Wilson Omuemu.
Thus, when it was discovered that the said Head of Transportation Unit was culpable, he was directed to hand over to the most senior person in line with civil service rules.
3. Mrs. Imarhiagbe Ngozi who was the Head of Store also signed for the receipt of the vehicle which was not supplied.
4. Meanwhile when it was discovered that the Head of Audit Unit refused to sign for the vehicle. So, the Chief Medical Director of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Professor Idia Nibokun directed the affected persons to handover to their most senior staff after the aforementioned discoveries.
To this end, we want to warn those trying to tarnish the reputation of our illustrious Chief Medical Director to desist henceforth.
Signed:
Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture-President
Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson-Secretary General
