The Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Prof. Marietu Tenuche Ogbo, has described the inclusion of Southerners in the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the appointment of Abu Micheal as Special Adviser, South-South Mobilization, as a value addition and a masterstroke that has enriched governance in Kogi State.
Prof. Ogbo made the disclosure on Friday when he received in audience the President of South-South States Residents in Kogi State and Special Adviser on South-South Mobilization, Abu Micheal, at his residence in Lokoja.
The Vice Chancellor described Governor Ododo as a detribalized leader, a unifier and a bridge-builder whose inclusive policy and broad-minded approach to governance remains second to none in the history of the state.
According to him, the decision of the Governor to deliberately integrate all residents living in Kogi State, irrespective of their state of origin, tribe or religion into his administration, is a game changer that has fostered peace, unity and a sense of belonging.
Prof. Ogbo said the people of the South-South are known to be politically reliable, committed, loyal and industrious, adding that their inclusion has brought fresh energy, ideas and commitment to the Ododo administration.
Speaking further, Prof. Ogbo attributed other outstanding qualities to Governor Ododo that have distinguished him as a people-centered leader. On behalf of the University community, he described the Governor as humble, accessible, compassionate, God-fearing, visionary and a listening leader who places premium on competence over primordial sentiments. He noted that Governor Ododo’s calm disposition, emotional intelligence, fidelity to promises and respect for elders and institutions have earned him uncommon goodwill across the state.
In the education sector, Prof. Ogbo was full of praise for the Governor, commending him for his massive investment and transformational efforts that have made Prince Abubakar Audu University a true citadel of learning and an envy of other state universities.
He said Governor Ododo’s timely release of funds, support for accreditation of programmes, infrastructural interventions, prompt payment of salaries and his respect for university autonomy have repositioned the institution for global competitiveness. He added that the Governor’s love for education is evident in his prioritization of the sector as the bedrock of sustainable development.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated Abu Micheal on his well-deserved appointment, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the South-South people, a grassroots mobilizer and a committed party man whose loyalty and capacity are not in doubt.
Prof. Ogbo assured him of his full support and the support in empowerment and other areas of the university community to South-South residents in the state in the coming days, stressing that inclusivity remains the best way to build a virile and united Kogi State.
He used the occasion to drum support for the second term bid of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, Governor Ododo will, by his superlative performance, humility and good work in the governance of the state, win convincingly in the next governorship election. He noted that the Governor’s pro-people policies, infrastructural revolution, human capital development and inclusive governance model have endeared him to all segments of the state.
Similarly, he expressed confidence that President Tinubu will score votes higher than what he got in 2023 in Kogi State, pointing out that his policies and programmes for the people of the state in terms of critical infrastructure, appointments of Kogi indigenes into strategic national positions and economic reforms will earn him majority votes in the 2027 general election.
In his remarks, Abu Micheal thanked the Vice Chancellor for his warm reception and for his kind words for Governor Ododo and President Tinubu. He assured of the unwavering support of Southerners resident in Kogi State to the return of Governor Ododo and President Tinubu, noting that the Governor’s unprecedented inclusion of South-South residents since the creation of the state has made the people resolve that his second term bid is sacrosanct and non-negotiable.
He said the South-South community in Kogi State will continue to mobilize massively for the success of the APC-led administration at both the state and federal levels.
