A Socio Cultural Group, the EDO NATIONAL VOICE (ENV) has condemned the plan by Governor Godwin Obaseki to create seven Traditional councils in Edo south Senatorial District Of the state.
The group while addressing journalists in Benin city said a statement issued by the sacked Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen, Mr. Edomwonyi Iduozee and Enogie of Evbuobonosa dated 9th of February alleged that Governor Obaseki is considering their selfish agenda to inaugurate traditional council across the 7 local government in Edo South .
His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, CFR has sacked Mr Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbaen as the Enogie (Duke) of Egbaen Siluko Dukedom in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State,
Ogiegbaen’s sack comes one month after he was shoved aside as Chief Coordinator to the Palace on Enigie matters in January 2023 over alleged rebellion, dereliction of his duties and uprising in the Enigie’s fold in Benin Kingdom, triggering a wave of backlash.
Oba Ewuare II made the proclamation during ‘open mediation in his palace in Benin City where he announced the appointment of Capt. Uwadiae Ohonbamumwen (Rted) as the Odionwere in Egbaen Siluko’s Dukedom.
Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbaen the Enogie (Duke) of Egbaen Siluko Dukedom in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State had In a letter to the governor with some Enogie’s demanded the inauguration of local government traditional council as against the Customs and Tradition of revered Benin Kingdom .
In a release signed by comrade Iyamu Osaro Culture-President, Comrade Osaghae Collins Amadin-Secretary General and five others said the recent sacrilegious action orchestrated by defiant and uncultured Enigies is not unconnected with the plans by some enemies of Benin Kingdom to defile the Benin tradition.
Iyamu said, The group has earlier in their press release called on some Enigies who signed the sacrilegious letters demanding the inauguration of local government traditional council as against the Customs and Tradition of our revered Benin Kingdom to denounce their actions before the public and recommended stringent punishment for other Enigies who are recalcitrant.
According to him, “as Defendant of our revered Throne and Benin Kingdom, we are here again to vehemently stand firm in support of our revered Throne and Benin Kingdom against those planning division within our well structured Kingdom which we have continuously posited as sacrilegious. It will interest us to know that our today Press Conference is necessitated and not unconnected with the press statement issued by the sacked Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen, Mr. Edomwonyi Iduozee and Enogie of Evbuobonosa dated 9th of February 2023.
“wherein they asserted that Governor Obaseki is considering their selfish agenda to inaugurate traditional council across the 7 local government in Edo South and also boasted in one of the secret meeting they held that Governor Obaseki is fully in support of their selfish and sacrilegious plans. In addition, we also heard in a viral video where some of the persons who claimed to be friends of the sacked Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen, Mr. Edomwonyi Iduozee were chased away by the people of Egbaen-Siluko Community that they were sent from government house to solidarize with their sacked and deflated friend, Mr. Edomwonyi Iduozee.”
He stated that, upon the confessions made the former Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen, Mr. Edomwonyi Iduozee and his gang, it is becoming clearer that Governor Obaseki is the man aiding these betrayals and self-centered some Enigies against our revered Throne and Benin Kingdom.
Adding further that having critically examined the confessions made by the sacked Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen, Mr. Edomwonyi Iduozee and his gang, we want to call on Governor Obaseki to purge him self of the tasks the sacked Enogie of Ogie-Egbaen, Mr Edomwonyi Iduozee and his gang has put before him to execute,
