
Kogi State House of Assembly on Wednesday suspended the Executive Chairman of Koton-Karfe, Kogi local government area of the State, Hon. Isah Abdulkarim Bala Ecomog, over his indictment on criminal activities even before he became the council Chairman.
The group under the aegis of Kogi Youth Alliance (KYA) has described the suspension as timely as a process capable of turning the fortune of the area for the better.
Mallam Jibrin Shuaibu and Hon. Usman Sadiq Chairman and Secretary respectively in a statement on Thursday accused the suspended council boss of denting the good image of their LG and who is well known for working against the progress of the area.
The statement further said sometimes ago prior to his election some well meaning Nigerian and Kogites raised an alarm over the council boss past criminal engagements, noting that he was not qualified to be elected into any political office.
The group said “as a political watchers who have been monitoring his activities since he came onboard there has been disunity among the party members in the council”.
The group described the swift action taken by the Kogi State House of Assembly as timely, best for the people of Kogi LG as not to continue having a criminal as their LG Chairman.
They also thanked Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for his all inclusive leadership style and pray for success of his administration.
The group also condemned in strong term the way and manner the suspended Chairman ordered his thugs to go after anyone supporting the government of the day leading to destruction of valuable properties and injured many council officials including a serving councilor representing Gegu Beki south of the Council
Our correspondent report that Assembly directed the Vice Chairman of the Local Government Hasana Jezhi should step in as acting chairman pending the investigation of the DSS.
It was also reported that there was jubilations from all the 11 electoral wards of Kogi LG following a suspension of their council boss whom they described as a bad omen.
