There is excitement in Lokoja metropolis as work progresses speedily on 7 solar-powered boreholes facilitated by Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West in the National Assembly.

This is coming barely a few days after the Senator pledged to bring relief to communities and residents facing water challenges, contractors have hit water level at different locations, sparking joy and relief among beneficiaries.

The project is a direct fulfillment of the commitment made by the Senator during a Town Hall Meeting held on Monday, 24th August 2026 in Lokoja.
At the meeting, the Senator lamented the water situation and recalled how he had to deploy water tankers to cushion the effect for residents throughout the holy month of Ramadan this year.
During the Town Hall, Senator Karimi promised to facilitate 5 industrial solar-powered boreholes in the most affected areas through the Corporate Social Responsibility intervention of one of the Federal Government agencies.
However, sources close to the Senator disclosed that the number has increased to 7 boreholes in a bid to reach more communities.
This brings to 29 the total number of solar-powered motorised boreholes facilitated by Senator Karimi in Lokoja Local Government Area. It will be recalled that 22 such boreholes had earlier been completed and commissioned across the LGA.
Residents in the benefiting areas have expressed appreciation, describing the intervention as timely and people-oriented. They shouted with joy and commended the Senator for remembering them.
Senator Karimi reaffirmed his commitment to addressing critical infrastructure gaps in Kogi West and improving the living standards of his constituents.
