Greater Lokoja: Repairs of water treatment plant reaches 70 % – Commissioner.


 

Work has reached 70 per cent completion on the water treatment plant of the Greater Lokoja Water Woks which was submerged October 2022 by flood that ravaged Lokoja and more than half of the local government areas in Kogi State.

 

The Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. AbdulMumin Danga, disclosed this in an interview with our Correspondent in Lokoja on Monday.

According to him, the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has approved the proposal for the purchase of new transformer for the water plant, adding that serious efforts were to purchase one following the submerge of the old one.

He, therefore, appealed to members of the public to exercise patient with the state government,assuring that very soon, potable water would return to homes in the area.

The Nigerian Post recalls that the Commissioner while speaking with Journalists in Lokoja on the issue, about a month ago,disclosed that the repair of the water treatment plant would cost N10.5 billion.
