Gov. Ododo Pledges Increased Support for People with Disabilities.

In a significant move towards inclusive development, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has pledged to intensify efforts in supporting people with disabilities in Ogori Magongo Local Government Area. This commitment was revealed during a community event in Magongo, where several completed projects were officially commissioned, signaling a new chapter of infrastructural and social development in the area.

Representing the governor at the event, Chief Momoh Dauda, General Manager of the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, announced the administration’s plans to expand its support for vulnerable groups, particularly individuals with disabilities. Chief Dauda highlighted the government’s dedication to ensuring that no segment of the community is left behind in the state’s development agenda.

The event marked the official commissioning of a newly constructed teachers’ lodge, the rehabilitation of critical borehole water projects, and the renovation of a basic health center. In addition to these infrastructural developments, the government also supplied essential drugs and distributed assistive devices to people with disabilities in both Ogori and Magongo communities.

Mr. J.O. Mangogo, Chairman of the Magongo Community Project Management Committee, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Ododo for his administration’s generosity. He specifically commended the governor for waiving the community’s financial contributions toward the projects, a gesture that ensured the swift completion of these critical developments.

“The governor’s decision to shoulder the entire cost of these projects has brought much-needed relief to our community. We are grateful for his leadership and commitment to our welfare,” Mr. Mangogo stated.

Adding to the chorus of commendations, Mr. Faruk Ganiyu, Chairman of the Ogori Magongo People with Disability Group, described the intervention as unprecedented. “Our community has never had it so good with this special intervention. The provision of assistive devices and healthcare support shows that this administration truly cares about people with disabilities,” Mr. Ganiyu said, noting the positive impact the projects will have on their daily lives.

Hon. Bode Ogunmola, a member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, also lauded the governor’s efforts. He highlighted the significance of the special intervention projects, praising Governor Ododo’s inclusive governance approach and impressive performance across the state.

“The governor’s work speaks for itself. From infrastructure to social welfare, he is demonstrating a clear commitment to improving the lives of all Kogites,” Hon. Ogunmola remarked.

The event concluded with the formal commissioning of the teachers’ lodge and the rehabilitated water projects. In a symbolic gesture, assistive devices and medical supplies were presented to beneficiaries from Ogori and Magongo, underscoring the administration’s focus on improving healthcare access and mobility for people with disabilities.

Residents expressed optimism that these projects would enhance the quality of life in the community while calling for continued government support to sustain these positive changes.
