Gov. Ododo Host World Bank, NPC officials in Kogi, woos investors with conducive environment

 

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has called on National and International investors to bring their investments to the state to tap the numerous mineral resources deposited in kogi state.

 

 

This is as he said, he has created conducive environment that will secure and safeguard their lives and investment.

Governor Ododo made the call on Monday when the Task Team of World Bank and National Project Coordination of ACresal project paid him courtesy visit in Lokoja.

The governor noted that with over 52 mineral deposits found in kogi state, the state should be able to leverage on this advantage, hence, a clarion call to investors to harness these resources to grow the economy of the state.

He said the state has invested hugely on security and infrastructure development that will guarantee the safety and security of the investors and their investments.

He commended the Work Bank and NPC for their support for ACReSAL projects in the state, disclosing that his Vision for agriculture tallies with the intent of Acresal projects.

He decried the hitherto sentiments that had divided the people of the state and promised to plug the loopholes to unite the state to fast track even development of the state.

He said, if the people are United in every front, kogi would have no relationship with poverty, as it is richly endowed with human and material resources to be the leading state in the country.

Ododo promised to stamp out crimes, criminality and insecurity of all forms across the state to enable the people to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

Earlier, the Task Team Lead of World Bank, Dr. Joy Iganya Agene disclosed that, kogi state is the only state that has three active sites running simultaneously, attributes the success to the commitment of the governor to the Acresal projects in the state.

The TTL Commended the Governor for his untiring and unwavering support for the projects which brought about the success the projects are recording across the three senatorial zones of the state.

She added that the governor’s prompt issuance of cheques to the Community Revolving Fund CRF beneficiaries has lend credence to the fight against the menace of climate change, which has impacted positively on the progress of the projects.

In the same vein, the National Project Coordinator NPC, Abdulhammed umar thanked Governor Ododo for his invaluable contributions to the projects as he is expecting more Acresal projects in the state.

She urged him to prioritise access to the project sites and the security of workers, pointing out that 80 more Communities in the state is expected to benefit from CRF from its initial ten communities, making kogi the highest beneficiaries among the 19 Northern states and Abuja participating in Acresal.

Similarly, the Deputy Task team lead, Engirneer Chinedu Emmanuel, described Governor Ododo as a listening Governor who holds the welfare of his people to his chest.

He said the Acresal projects are designed on performance based which accounted for kogi state to attract so much from the projects and urge the Governor to continue with the good works.

In a remark, the commissioner for Environment, Engineer Joseph Oluwasegun stated that the present administration in his efforts to transform the state approached the World Bank for loan which the bank graciously approved, leading to the Acresal gully erosion stabilisation project in Ankpa, Okene and Kabba Local Government Areas of kogi state.

He added that in order to mitigate the effects of climate change, the ministry embarked on massive planting of trees across the state.
While commending the Governor for the donation of additional Hilux to the ministries of Environment, Water resources and Agriculture to aid their operations, assured him of their commitment to ensure the success of the projects
