Gov. Ododo, Dignitaries Honour Late Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi With Touching Tributes
In a solemn ceremony filled with tears and heartfelt tributes, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo Ahmed, along with a host of notable personalities, gathered to pay their last respects to the late Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi. The event, held in Kabba, was a poignant celebration of a life well-lived and a legacy of compassion and service.
Representing the Governor, the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu
delivered a moving speech, highlighting Olori Marie’s reputation for peace, contentment, and selflessness. Describing her as a woman of substance and valor, he urged those present to continue upholding her ideals and ensuring that her impactful work would not be forgotten.
In a touching gesture, the Governor appealed to the congregation to contribute to the construction of an education building in honor of the late Olori Marie Owoniyi, emphasizing her dedication to the betterment of her community and the education of its youth.
Bishop Steven Akobe of the Kabba Dioceses spoke of the inevitability of death but emphasized the importance of living a life of Christ, much like Olori Marie had done. He praised her as a devoted Christian whose life should serve as a model for others to follow.
Among the dignitaries present were the Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Sunday Karimi, Hon. Salman Idris, member, House of Representative, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, HE.Olayinka Braimo, Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Folasade Arike Ayoade, Hon. Wemi Jones FCIB, Commander Jerry Omodara, Hon. T. J. Yusuf, Hon. Joseph Oluwasegun, Hon. Seyi Bello, Hon. Omotayo Ishaya, the Executive chairman of Kabba-Bunu LGA, Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, as well as Special Advisers and other esteemed guests.
Notable traditional rulers from Kogi state who were in attendance are Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Eje of Ankpa, Ejeh of Dekina, Olujumu of Ijumu kingdom, Elulu of Mopaland, Agbana of Isanlu, Olugbede of Gbede kingdom, the Obadofin of Owe land, the Obajemu of Owe land, Baale Egbe representing the Elegbe of Egbe, the Oba of Yoruba land, among other traditional rulers
