The recent visit to Kupa by Mr. Ede Ayuba, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police will ever remain as one of the greatest proactive security measures that Governor Yahaya Bello has assured the farmers in Kupa that none of his predecessors could do.

The Kupa FADAMA farmers association wishes to appreciate the state government to have charged the state police commissioner to embark on this famous journey, first of its kind in Kogi State.

The question now is, whose irresponsibility is responsible for causing havoc by the Fulani cattle breeders in Kupa?

FULANI INVASIONS:
How The Journey Started: Dates back to colonial era, the fulanis have been living in Kupa and remained a good people. What we have then was trans humane, exodus of the cattle from one raining season in rain forest areas of the Southern Nigeria to the Lower Niger river of Benue and the old Kabba province.

If something is not done to handle the influx of Fulani into, the people of Kupa should be prepared sitting on gun powder cage. And that is where the efforts of the Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello is highly commendable.

Of recent there was news from Hausa Service of BBC Radio that fulanis numbering in their thousands with their cattle have relocated to Lokoja. Where in lokoja? The answer is simply and squarely Kupa. Just this yesterday, a day after the state police commissioner’s visit, about 2000 cattle cross over to Kupa diverting their journey to Kupa from Jamata, Murtala Muhammed bridge which caused a hold up for about 2 hours lasting to 10pm.

Finally the politicians must desist from manipulating this scenario and celebrating their cohorts. From the creation of Man, Adam, God ordained that man shall eat crop and animals shall eat grace and provided hoe and cutlass, now tractors, to man and send down the rains making grace available for animala to eat, not the crops hardly cultivated for food security and economic wellbeing of man. So let the Fulani be informed, educated and know the natural justice from the beginning of creation or face the law of their host communities to be supported by the nation’s criminal laws and regional acts of houses of assembly.
