Gov Bello is a hero for women, youth participation in politics– Avoyi

For his uncommon style of leadership where he is creating platforms for youths and women in the state to aspire to leadership positions as well as realising their dreams in politics and governance, Governor Yahaya Bello has been described as a hero for women and youths participation in politics.

Honourable Barikisu Avoyi Nwogu, Senior Special Assistant on electronic media to Governor Yahaya Bello disclosed this in a chat with Journalists on the sideline of the end of the year program organized by the Kogi State Government House Press Crew.

The program which held yesterday featured special conferment of award of courageous leadership on Governor Bello for his unpopular stance at the peak of the novel Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Governor’s media aide, Kogi women and youths have had their liberation from years of political obscurity following the assumption of office of Governor Bello in 2016.

Governor Bello, she asserted, did not only ensured his administration is dominated with youths who are adding value to the process of governance, he has gone further by allowing women occupy strategic positions at the local government administration, where they are serving as vice Chairpersons and councilors.

The media assistant, a passionate broadcast journalist, who until her appointment in August this year was Kogi State correspondent with the Independent African Television (AIT), has argued that Kogi is fast becoming an example for effective engagement of the youths and women in politics and governance.

She lauded the Governor’s examplary leadership of fairness, equity and justice, noting that he had ensured no part of the state is left behind in appointments and spreads of development projects, a clear departure from past practices, she said.

Kogi, she maintained, was a state divided against itself, as ethnic rivalry and class discrimination dictates relationship amongst the people, and pointed out that the coming of Governor Bello had changed the narrative.

Herself a culture enthusiast, with strong passion for the re- awakening of the cultural values of the diverse ethnic groups in the state, Mrs. Nwogu believes Governor Bello is the type of leader Nigeria yearns for.
