Gegu Beki Rallies Behind Yahaya Bello Ahead of Kogi Central Senate Bid

Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, received a warm reception in Gegu Beki, his hometown, as residents gathered to welcome him ahead of his planned bid for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat.

The visit on Saturday drew youths, elders, and party stakeholders from across the area, who described the event as a demonstration of continued support for the former governor.

Community leaders said the gathering underscored Bello’s ties to the area and his influence within the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. They expressed confidence that his representation would advance the interests of Kogi Central and attract further development to the district.
Bello, who governed Kogi State from 2016 to 2024, is expected to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial District seat in the next election cycle. The district is currently represented in the Senate by Sen. Sadiku Ohere.
Speaking during the visit, supporters highlighted Bello’s record on infrastructure and youth engagement while in office, and pledged to mobilize support for his senatorial ambition.
The former governor, popularly referred to as “FGYB” by supporters, thanked the community for the reception and reiterated his commitment to the progress of Kogi State.
Party officials said consultations ahead of the APC primaries for Kogi Central were ongoing across the district.
