
FORMER GOV. YAHAYA BELLO TO BAG ‘HERO OF KOGI POLITICS’ AWARD AT YOUTH SECURITY ROUNDTABLE

Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, is set to be honoured as the Hero of Kogi Politics while Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo is to be recognised as the Best Youth-Friendly Governor since the creation of the state.
The award will be conferred on April 25, 2026, at the Youth Security Roundtable Parley scheduled to hold at the Glass House, Government House, Lokoja. Organisers said the honour acknowledges Bello’s contributions to infrastructure development, youth advancement, and peace and security during his tenure.
Coordinator of OBIGI 4+4, Comrade Victor MD Kpanaki, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday. He said the award recognises Bello’s efforts in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He added that Gov. Ododo has remained a youth friendly personality since the inception of the State, said the award is to spur the duo for their remarkable contribution to leadership.
“We are proud to recognise former Governor Yahaya Bello for his commitment to maintaining peace and strengthening security architecture in Kogi State,” Kpanaki said. “His administration recorded significant strides in protecting communities and fostering unity among diverse groups.”
Kpanaki added that Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo will attend the event as Special Guest of Honour. The parley, themed “Sustaining and Ensuring Peace in Bassa LGA: 2027 in Focus,” is aimed at addressing emerging security concerns in Bassa Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“This gathering will provide a platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue on sustaining peace, particularly as the country approaches another election cycle,” he said. “It is important that communities remain vigilant and united against threats to stability.”
Comrade Joel Oyibo Salihu is expected to serve as Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries expected include the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara; Kogi State Auditor-General, Hon. Okala Yusuf Yakubu; Senator representing Kogi East, Jibrin Isah; Member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Gowon Haruna; and Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area, Hon. Theophilus Danjuma Adama.
The event, which begins at 10:00 a.m., will also feature recognition of individuals who have distinguished themselves in various fields.
“This parley is not only about discussions,” Kpanaki said. “It is also an opportunity to celebrate excellence and encourage leaders and citizens alike to continue contributing to peace and development in their communities.”
