Food Sufficiency: Council Chairman Distributes Fertilizer Worth 4m To Rural Farmers In Ebonyi

In his avowed determination to boost Agriculture and food sufficiency in the Council, the Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area, Chief Ebere Nwogba, has procured and distributed Fertilizers worth over Four Million Naira to over Five hundred farmers in the area.

 

Chief Nwogba while distributing the Fertilizer at Nkaliki the Council Headquarters, calls for judicious use of the inputs.

Distributing the Fertilizers numbering over five hundred bags to Abakaliki Farmers, the Council Chairman Chief Ebere Nwogba, said apart from having the interest of Abakaliki people at heart, his aim was also to step down the Magnanimity of the present administration in the State to the grassroots to ensure that Abakaliki people record bumper harvest in food production.

Chief Nwogba while commending the administration of Governor Nwifuru for giving him the enabling environment to assist the farmers enjoy dividends of democracy and feel the impact of Government, noted that the fertilizers are distributed only to genuine farmers of the Council and not political or paper farmers.

He advised the farmers to use the fertilizers for the purpose it was made for, warning that any beneficiary found selling the inputs would be sanctioned.

The Supervisor for Agriculture, Abakaliki Local Government Area, Mr. Jerry Oduma, commended the State Governor and the Council Chairman for the gesture and called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the inputs to better their fortune.

In an interview, some of the beneficiaries including the Town Union President of Edda Community, Mr. Solomon Nwalike, immediate past Councilor of Ndiegu Okpuitumo Ward 13, Mr. Moses Okemini, Mrs. Blessing Odii and Mr. Ebere Okorie from Amagu Community among others, while expressing their happiness, described the gesture as the first of it’s kind in Abakaliki Local Government and prayed God to lift the Chairman higher.

They also expressed joy that the gesture was not politicized as usually experienced in the past and called for his re-election for second tenure.

Each beneficiary of the farm inputs, went home with at least one full bag of *NPK 20 -10 -10* fertilizer.
