Flood: Kogi Police Command Confirms Boat Mishap, Recovery of 2 Corpses in Ganaja


 

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that two dead bodies were found floating on the water in Ganaja area of the State.

 

It will be recalled that following the flooding of the River Niger, water over ran the bank, thus submerging the major road.

Consequently, people living around Ganaja Village had to resort to using canoes to cross the large volume of water that submerged several houses while motorists are made to pass through the 500 unit Estate.

According to an eyewitness report, a canoe while attempting to cross with some persons yesterday night capsized. The number of the occupant of the canoes is yet to be ascertained.

It is believed that the dead bodies floating on the water were some of the passangers that capsized, but resurfaced on the water today.

Speaking with the Nigeria post, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Ayah, said the corpse of the have been deposited at the Mortuary.

One of the deceased was identified as Abudulfatia abudulazeez.

As at time of the press swimmers have mounted search with the view to recover more bodies that capsized in a the boat yesterday that was ferrying people to Ajaokuta end of the road.
