The National President of Ayeh Gbede Development Union, Comrade Israel Oshafunmi has made a passionate appeal to Kogi State Government to as a matter of urgency fix the Okoro Gbede-Ayeh Gbede Road which is currently in a deplorable condition.
Comrade Oshafunmi made the appeal at the 49th Ayeh Gbede Day at Ayeh Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area.
The National President noted that the road is the major problem befalling the community, saying that “Our road has been in a deplorable condition due to the erosion during the last raining
season. We pray that God shall send a helper to facilitate the reconstruction or at least grading the road for us. Our roads had been our major problem as a community.”
He emphasized the need for unity as the only tool for progress and development of Ayeh Gbede community.
“I want to emphasise that our unity as a community is critical and non-negotiable at this point in time. We cannot afford to be divided at this point of our history. What some communities around us can do and get away with it, we cannot afford to venture into it.” He pointed out.
Comrade Oshafunmi further said “This is a critical time, that we need to come together and pray in unity for God to liberate us as a community. Any group that is beating drums of disunity should be seen as an enemy of our community. Our Intra-community rivalries should be looked into for amicable settlement.
The elders in the community should adopt a conflict resolution mechanism to resolve any conflicts immediately.”
He however used the occasion to pay glowing tribute to the late an Executive member of the Union, Elder
Raphael Ekundayo Tolorunleke who died early this year.
“We pray that God shall give the immediate family, friends and the entire community the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss of this patriot.”
