FCT Minister hails students for winning laurels, promises commitment to science, technology.

Minister of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Malam Muhammad Musa Belo has commended the students of FCT colleges for the laurels won at the just concluded National Junior Science and Technology Expo in Abuja.

FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Belo who gave the commendation in Abuja in a press release by his press secretary said, the brilliant performance of students of Government Science Technical College, Area 3 and Government Secondary School Gwagwalada that placed them 2nd and 3rd position respectively is a motivation for his administration to do more.

Belo said, ” It is a source of inspiration to others as the two schools won laurels for their presentations at the National Junior Engineers,Technicians and Scientists (JETS) category at the EXPO”.

While Government Science Technical College Area 3, Garki came second for its project titled ‘the production of re-useable sanitary pads from banana trunks, Government Secondary School Gwagwalada came third for its automated water sprinkler system project.

In his good will message to the organisers of Expo, Muhammad Musa Belo said, since the critical role of Science and Technology now constitutes the bases of modern innovation and socioeconomic prosperity of many nations of the world, it has further rekindled the FCT administration to step up support for Science and Technology Innovations Expo.

Speaking after presentation of prizes to students,
the Director, Department of Science and Technology of the Education Secretariat, Mr Kola Olobashola, said the FCT schools had always been innovative and focused, the reasons it had earlier cclinched 3 top prizes at the 2021 edition of the EXPO.

“We make sure each of our schools has a particular
innovation peculiar to it and its community and when programmes such this come up, we showcase the best of what our schools have to offer”.

Also, the Secretary for Education, Malam Dahir El-Katuzu, stated that the FCT had expected to clinch all three top prizes as done previously, so the gap would be reversed to ensure that FCT retains the top positions.
