Ex. Minister, Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni Bags another award


….honoured with award of distinguished Lay Faithful.

 

This year’s national conference of the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria ongoing in Abuja, the nation’s capital this Saturday featured the presentation of award on some prominent Nigerians.

The event which is holding at the Public Service Institute, Kubwa, Abuja, also witnessed the celebration of the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria at fifty.

Among those honoured at this year’s celebration is a former Minister, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni, who was honoured with the award of Distinguished Lay Faithful.

Speaking to Newsmen after the award conferred on him, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni said he was extremely delighted with the award coming from an important and revered body like the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria.

Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni said he never knew the Council was diligently following all his activities within the Catholic community, noting that all he was doing was to satisfy the Catholic doctrines and his personal conviction to always be of support to the needy in the society.

“I’m deeply short of words how to express my appreciation to the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria for this recognition and honor, I’m grateful and wish to assure the Council that I will continue to identify with the body and also do my best for humanity and the Country in general”.

” Let me also use this opportunity to thank and commend all those who came from far and near to rejoice with me and family over this award, I pray God Almighty will grant all of you journey mercies back to your various destinations”.

The Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria said the award conferred on Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni was in recognition of his support to the Church as Lay faithful in Local Parishes, the Archdioceses and Nigeria in general.

The Council described Professor Ocheni as a source of inspiration to many around and within his community at large.

The body further stated that the award is also based on the fact that Professor Ocheni has made significant contributions towards making the society better with improved human dignity.

The Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria expressed appreciation to Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni for being a strong pillar who has always been their for the Council.

Others honoured at the occasion are Senator Hope Uzodima, Governor of IMO State, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, immediate past Minister of Transportation, former Chairman of INEC, Professor Iwu as well as former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen and a host of others.

Activities for this year’s national conference of the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria will be rounded off tomorrow, Sunday, the tenth December, 2023.
