The Executive Director, Justice Helpline Foundation, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael has carpeted the Nigerian Bar Association for presenting award to the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.
The Executive Director made the disclosure in a statement, described it as unprecedented in the history of the NBA for awards to be presented to panelists, described the award given to the Labour Party Presidential Candidate as Ill informed and targeted to redicule some political party candidates.
Barr. Dare said as individual members of the NBA, said they are at liberty to support any candidate, urged that the NBA should not drag the name of the association into the mud as a watchdog.
The Executive Director notes with emphasis that the NBA conference should not be used to promote any person’s political aspiration, condemned the award given to the Labour Party Presidential Candidate in strong terms.
The Lawyer lamented a situation in which lawyers were seen wearing Peter Obi’s campaign caps at the conference, described it as highly demeaning and insulting the watchdog status in the face of rational Nigerians.
Barr. Dare described the figures and statistics ditched out by the Labour Party Presidential Candidate as inaccurate that cannot correct the nation’s myraid of challenges.
