Electoral Act: Buhari’s assent marks a new era in Nigeria’s electoral process – Ajibade

The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), on Saturday said the signing of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2022 into law by
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday marked a new era in Nigeria’s electoral process.
He said, “I commend the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, (GCFR) for signing the long awaited re-worked Electoral Bill into Law.
“I want to specially commend the great work and efforts put together by Civil Society Organizations, our dear great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), political analysts, international organizations and Nigerians at large for their unrelented pressure put towards accelerated passage and signing of the re-worked Electoral bill.
“The signing of the re-worked Electoral Bill into law will to a large extent guarantees free, fair, credible and peaceful elections in Nigeria. Electronic transmission of results will bring back confidence of Nigerians on the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) as Nigerians will be optimistic that their votes will count and not go in vain.
“Political parties are also given the latitude to choose which process bests suit them to electing their candidates that will face general election or bye election as the case may be.”
He added, “It is indeed a remarkable achievement in the history of our democracy.
“With all sense of humility, I congratulate the good people of Nigeria.
“Let’s rescue and build Nigeria come 2023.
“God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“God bless the Peoples Democratic Party.
